'Dragon Quest IX' Delayed Due To "Flaws"

Posted February 12, 2009 - By Raymond Padilla

Square Enix is delaying the Japanese release of Dragon Quest IX for Nintendo DS. The original release date was March 28, 2009. The new release date is July 11, 2009. According to Kotaku:

" The delay is a result of bugs or 'flaws,' it seems, still being prevalent in the game. 'The sale date has been changed to July 11 in order to give us enough time to improve and inspect this title,' Square Enix states in a press release."

The delay will likely have an impact on the worldwide release -- probably not the same four-month delay that's hitting Japan -- since localization can be worked out as the technical flaws are smoothed out.

Dragon Quest is an enormous franchise in Japan -- arguably as big as Final Fantasy. Globally, it plays second fiddle to Square Enix's popular role-playing game series.

Are you guys disappointed in the delay? Are many of you even interested in DQIX? I love me some DQ goodness, but my friends outside of the gaming business generally prefer FF games. How about you?
