This Wednesday is Judgment Day for Free Radical Design. The English company, remembered fondly for its employees' work on GoldenEye and Time Splitters, and perhaps less fondly for PS3 shooter Haze, has been struggling financially.
On February 4, ReSolve Partners, the company in charge of Free Radical's restructuring, will announce the developer's future. Whether that future means a buyer has been found or lights out for Free Radical remains to be seen. ReSolve Partners has been trying to sell the company as a whole, but said it may split up the technology, IP and other assets if it results in a better deal.
According to gamesindustry.biz:
"A number of company's have been rumoured to be interested in Free Radical Design, including Codemasters and Monumental Games, but ReSolve has also indicated that there has been interest from outside of the videogames."
Reportedly, Free Radical is working on two unreleased titles: TimeSplitters 4 and Star Wars Battlefront III. I'd like to play both of them, please.
