Governor Deval Patrick Woos Game Companies To Mass.

Posted January 28, 2009 - By Stephen Johnson

Deval Patrick, the governor of Massachusetts is planning a trip out West. The sunny weather will no doubt be a nice change from the terrible Boston winter, but Patrick and his posse have something more important on their minds. The governor is meeting with 50 high tech firms to try and convince them to relocate to Massachusetts.

"To bring a video-game publishing presence to the state," Electrinic Arts is among the companies Deval plans to meet with. Rock Band developer Harmonix is already located in Cambridge, so it's not like Massachusetts doesn't have any game companies. Patrick is also meeting with top executives at Microsoft Corp., Cisco Systems Inc., and Google Inc., as well.

Hey, I thought video games caused kids to go on murderous rampages and throw tacos at their moms! Why not just leave all these troublesome, revenue-generating, game companies right where they belong, here in sunny California?
