The AIAS Announces The Finalist For The 12th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards

The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) has announced the finalists for the 12th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards. The awards ceremony takes place at the organization's DICE Summit. The lists have most of the games you'd expect: Metal Gear Solid 4, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, etc. Leading the way was LittleBigPlanet, which snagged 10 nominations. Here are the nominees in the various categories, followed by some closing thoughts.

LittleBigPlanet's success isn't surprising when you consider that the Interactive Achievement Awards uses a peer-based system; game creators love new and innovative things. Initially, I was surprised at how little Nintendo had on the list, but again, that reflects the AIAS members and what they're looking for. I was shocked the Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII wasn't nominated. At first, I thought that Square Enix was no longer an AIAS member, but the company is listed on the AIAS site. Well color me miffed....
