Shigeru Miyamoto and Electronic Arts' Spore won Jim Henson Honors awarded by The Jim Henson Company. As you know, Henson was a legendary entertainer and created some of the most memorable characters in pop culture history. His works include Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and Fraggle Rock. With characters like Big Bird, Kermit the Frog, and Wembley, Henson has touched millions of lives. The official press release stated:
Each year the company hands out four awards. Legendary game creator Shigeru Miyamoto was given The Jim Henson Celebration Honor. This is the highest honor the company awards. It is given "to an individual, organization or product that makes the world a better place by inspiring people to celebrate life."
Spore was given The Jim Henson Technology Honor. This award "acknowledges an individual, organization or product who/which demonstrates ground-breaking technology in a creative way."
It's fantastic for gaming that one of its greatest creators and one of last year's biggest games was recognized by a mainstream organization. Congratulations to Mr.Miyamoto and (Spore's) Mr. Wright!
