This weekend is the final round of the NFL Playoffs to determine the teams for Super Bowl XLIII. But if you don't want to waste six-plus hours of AFC and NFC playoff games, no problem. Madden 09 has already picked the winners and the scores. According to a Madden simulation run by IGN, here's how it's going to shake out:
In the NFC, Kurt Warner's Arizona Cardinals will be mixing it up with the Philadelphia Eagles. According to the simulation, the Cardinals will come out on top in this bird-centric game, beating Donovan McNabb's Eagles handily. Madden predicts a final score of Cardinals 41 -- Eagles 28.
Meanwhile, over in the AFC, Madden 09 predicts a pounding: The Pittsburgh Steelers, led by Big Ben Roethlisberger, will dominate the Baltimore Ravens. Rookie Joe Flacco is expected to have a horrible game, completing only 16 of 41 passes for 158 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions. Ouch! The final score: Pittsburgh 31 -- Baltimore 6.
If Madden 09 can truly predict the future, the next Super Bowl will pit the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Arizona Cardinals.
Of course, it could be that IGN's predictions are dead wrong. While the Cardinals are an impressive team, the idea that the juggernaut Eagle defense would allow 41 points seems a little optimistic (if not ridiculous), and I seriously doubt Joe Flacco will collapse like a house of cards.
Do you have any picks for the playoffs, or are you more in the game of, "I don't give a rat's *ss."
By the way, if anyone wants to bet on the Cards and give up 13 points, I'm sure you'll find someone to take that wager!
