In what can only be assumed is an effort to get those pesky ratings back up, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today that they will not be revealing the list of celebrity presenters for this year's show ahead of time, as they have done in years past.
By keeping hush-hush on the star presence until airtime, Oscar producers Laurence Mark and Bill Condon are breaking with tradition and hope to attract viewers. So the public will have to tune in on February 22's live broadcast from the Kodak Theatre to find out which superstars are presenting on stage.
"There will be fantastic movie stars that appeal to a whole range of movie lovers and fans of our show,” said Oscar spokeswoman, Leslie Unger. “We're just not going to tell you who they all are."
Does anyone under 30 ever watch the Oscars these days?
