Shed a tear for Indiana Jones, everybody. If the below rumor is true, a triple-A game featuring the world's coolest archaeologist won't be coming to your console any time soon. IGN reports, according to "multiple sources," some within LucasArts, the big budget Indiana Jones game that's been in development for years has been canceled.
No reason was given for the cancellation, but IGN reports that the game's developers "are being reallocated to other projects and that the new Indiana Jones project ... is dead in the water."
A demo of the untitled Indiana Jones game was featured at E3 in 2006 which caused a buzz for its use of the Euphoria engine that was later to power Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Grand Theft Auto IV.
I'm not exactly happy about the game's cancellation, yet I'm a little relieved. Although it sounded great, I hate to see beloved characters gratuitously bastardized in shoddy video games. I'm relieved it doesn't seem to be even a remote possibility of that happening to Indie... at least in this generation!
