Sony Announces The Red Sox's Dustin Pedroia As 'MLB '09 The Show' Cover Boy

Sony has announced that The Boston Red Sox's Dustin Pedroia will be its cover boy for MLB '09 The Show. On the officialy PlayStation blog, Sony PR's Alex Armour writes:

"Not only is Pedroia a Gold Glove second baseman and 2008 AL MVP, his work ethic, intensity, and overall game skills make him a perfect fit for our best-selling MLB game. We’re excited to have Pedroia become part of the SCEA baseball family and look forward to his participation in all facets of our campaign."

I was pretty excited for the game, especially its new heckling feature, but this announcement turns me off. Now excuse me, while I go search for a New York Yankees story to write up....

@RedRingOfDeath He's one of the best hitters in the league, but at this point, I don't think he fits in. The bats seem to be set and the team doesn't need all the garbage that comes with "Manny being Manny".

whoever thinks manny is going to the yankees is delusional. He will resign with the Dodgers because no one else will play his games.

Manny just said that because he thought he could get his big bucks. But CC, AJ and Tex are now all signed, so Manny's hope of getting 25 million for 4 years are gone.

20 million a year for 2 yrs with incentives plus a third year option...that what he will settle for...with True Blue.

@Hbkfan27 Jeter and Rivera has been consistently excellent players and people. Pedroia has only played two full seasons. I hope the pressure gets to him and he has a severe drop off.

i know jeter and rivera have always been good players but they usually give covers to the players who had the best seasons. Pedroia has been playing only two full seasons yes but was rookie of the year and MVP in those two seasons im not a red sox fan at all but just from those enough he deserves it.

Pedroia is one of the best in the legue.
In 2007 he won the Rookie of the Year award and a World Series ring. In 2008 he won the MVP and got a gold glove. Its never been done before until Dustin Pedroia showed up. Im a Red Sox fan and PS3 fanboy. Win-win situation here.
