SCEE President Says It's Important For Sony To Make Money In 2009 (Really?!?)

Sony's PlayStation UK site lists the 2009 wishes of numerous Sony executives and a bunch of the company's third-party partners. A lot of the wishes are pretty cool and I'm happy that Heavy Rain is getting so much play, but some of the quotes are kind of silly. Let's take Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president David Reeves' opening line for example:

"The most important thing for us as a company in the very short term is for us to start making money."

Well duh. I wouldn't expect an executive from a subsidiary of a large, publicly-traded corporation to list "saving whales" or "halting deforestation" as its most important goals for 2009. I'm sure Reeves' wish for the new year has alleviated the fears of millions of Sony shareholders. The man is quickly becoming my favorite Sony executive. I love it when he says things like "exclusives are a thing of the past " and " Sony has no plans for a PSP2 ". His big revelation that it's important for Sony to make money in 2009 just blows me away...seriously...I wasn't prepared to start my day off with such a shocking claim.
