'EVE Online' Reaches Highest User Base

Day after day, it seems I get the (dis)pleasure of reporting on someone's demise, or some company's near ruin, or a game that's gone to the dogs.

So it makes my day that CCP's MMORPG EVE Online is shooting ablaze beyond its 5,000 star systems.

EVE reach a record-high 45,186 simultaneous players on its single-shared server.

Since the game launched in '03, it's gone beyond 240,000 active subscribers.

It's so damn serious now that it's even got an in-game economy which is overseen by Dr. Eyjolfur Gudmundsson, a real-world economist.

That's some state of the nation stuff, right?

EVE is amazing. Definitely go do the trial, you'll be amazed by the sheer scope of the game. And if your not the PvP type there is plenty of stuff to do like trading, mining, manufacturing and more. But EVE is has a big learning curve so dont be overwhelmed and stick with it and you'll be good in no time.

The game is boring at first, but thats probably because its an open ended game with no real objective so to say. It picks up after you get established

WoW hasn't crushed this yet? Huh I guess people enjoy this game for some reason. I personally found it to be more boring than those old physics videos from the 60s that we are all forced to watch in high school.

Damn near everyone on my friends and friends of friends list was racking up hours in this game for this contest.

But, to be frank, it's always been a top played MMO. It's just that WoW owns that genre sooo damn much, you never see anything else.

This game would have an even larger subscriber base if you actually controlled the combat. I think it would also have done better if you didn't have to wait real time to train abilities. It's still a fun game but it's probably too complex and time consuming to be a big hit.

EVE is an amazing game. The trick for starting up is to find a benefactor that is farther along that can guide u.

it is a really great game just earlier this week they had the first person to ever reach 100 million skill points its more strategic than WoW I am currently playing it hit me up at terranan

oh btw, an update.....Eve just reached the 51k user mark.
for all u wow people, thats like having the players from 25 full servers on in the same game area...
when u can do that, call me and ill pwn u all with my civilian railgun and my hulltank

IownEMail u r 100% correct....too bad u didnt translate that into something a wow player could understand....
