Jack Buser, director of the free social gaming service PS Home, says that the Playstation 3's game will remain in beta "indefinitely."
"We quite like the name 'open beta,' so you can expect us to stay in open beta for some time," said Buser.
It's an idea that Sony wants to assert that Home is a platform that is constant, with "new virtual items, new content, all the time" as opposed to being stagnant and unchanging.
What do you guys think are the pros and cons of being in beta indefinitely?
I mean, Google's Gmail has been around for years and has yet to graduate out of its beta form since its launch. I use it, I love it, and it's used daily by millions without a glitch. Everything Google does is in beta mode, which means it continues to offer new features and functions, so its a good thing, isn't it?
