It's hard to remember with Capcom stealing all the fighting-game thunder with a constant barrage of Street Fighter IV announcements, but SNK Playmore has revealed the character list for The King of Fighters XII. Insert Credit was kind enough to point this out as it was admiring the company's lovely new year's wallpaper. For those of you that have forgotten about this fighting game series, the game is due out in Japanese arcades in April 2009. PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will presumably follow.
The game's 20 characters look solid, but there's one huge omission: Mai Shiranui. SNK's vivisecting vixen is nowhere to be found on the character list. (Come to think of it, the roster does look like too much of a sausage fest.) Hopefully she pops up in the console versions. Given her popularity and the legions of women cosplaying as her, it's hard to imagine King of Fighters XII without Mai. Here's the full character list for any readers that can't see the graphic:
