Burger King Serves Cease and Desist Notice Via Twitter

Posted by Sinden Lee - Friday, December 19, 2008 1:42 PM

You can do a lot on social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. You can face kick someone on FB. You can update your profile with emoticons on MS.

Who knew you could serve legal notices on these sites too?

On the precipice of an Australian ruling that allowed FB to be used to server home owner foreclosure to somebody, Burger King is using Twitter to send out a cease and desist notice.

BK's Twitter account sent a notice to WhopperVirgins -- presumably an account set up by someone outside the Whopper king's official domain.

It's something to scratch your BK crown about, not to mention it's probably going to become a wacky trend of using social networking sites for serving legal communication (papers).

There's a significance in this day when you can use a site like FB to serve your wife with divorce papers because she's been away on holiday with her new boyfriend in the Caribbeans for the last month. Obviously that was not the original intent of FB or Twitter.

Hopefully corporations won't be serving papers over AIM. Imagine being slapped with a summons via Yahoo! Messenger? The possibilities are frightening!

Basically because BK doesn't want to find out that their whopper "virgin" commercial thing is crap.

When was the last time you went to a BK and got a whopper that looked like that. The last time I got one, I was lucky if everything was even centered right.

Some commercials are good with the BK King others are well as bad as Carl's Jr.'s.

A Facebook circuit of appeals? Oh the possibilities.

Blech, whoppers are disgusting anyway. The crap Burger King serves doesn't even qualify as food.

A&W Papa Burgers FTW! Delish

Spam divorce papers and Spear Phishing subpoenas.

Sinden Lee, you do realize it's a joke, correct? Whopper virgins is BK's current advertising push. Do some research.
