Moriarty of Ain't It Cool News took a trip to London, visiting the set of upcoming comic-to-film adaptation Kick-Ass. Besides an excited and extensive recounting of the visit, he also provided an exclusive pic of Christopher Mintz-Plasse (best known as "McLovin" from Superbad) as Kick Ass' crimson-clad nemesis, Red Mist in their first meeting.
The film, based on the comic by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., tells the story of a New York City High School Student that takes his obession with comic book superheroes too far and actually goes out on to the streets to fight crime. (In a green gimp suit, no less?)
It will be interesting to see how this project develops. Despite how comedy-driven the premise sounds, the comic contains a dark, violent element that either the presence of, or lack thereof could play a critical part in how the film turns out when it hits theaters some time in 2009.
