If you're getting flack from mom and dad about logging in way too many hours playing Fallout 3, you can assure them you're honing your skills for college.

You can go to New York University to get a degree in video games to become a game designer, entrepreneur or a researcher.

NYU's Game Center with undergraduate and graduate degrees in research, design and development of digital games, will compete with approximately 12 other universities in the U.S. that offer video game degrees with varying concentrations.

The 10-12 new students, who have enrolled for fall 2009, can select from approximately 70 courses on game design and development. They have the option of choosing a minor, major or even a double major in gaming.

Starting in fall of 2010, NYU will admit six graduate students annually to their Master's and certificate program which takes two years to complete.

NYU is to become New York's first college to offer a video game degree.
