Lair developer, Factor 5 had a multi-game deal with Brash Entertainment.
Now the studio is in dire straights because Brash has gone under.
Animator, Sam Baker reported on his blog that "no one at Factor 5 had been paid in a month.... and we weren't going to any time soon."
The staff remained committed by staying on board to work, in spite of their shaky future with the studio. Baker also stated that their health benefits were next to go, then production on one of Factor 5's projects had ceased.
He claims Julian Eggebrecht, president of Factor 5 told the team that "if we didn't receive funding in 1 week, all of us should move on and look elsewhere for another job."
When the media got wind of Baker's blog, he deleted the original post, claiming misinterpretation and updated it with a revised post.
Countering what he claimed previously, Baker now states "This does not mean that we've stopped production on that game, or that it was ever even in trouble... We hadn't received payment because of the situation with Brash."
He furthered that by saying other projects are "doing great."
How is this possible if the staff isn't getting paid? Who in their right mind would stay on without pay indefinitely churning out work? Hmm...
