Koobface Virus Escalates on Facebook

It's been reported that a malware called Koobface has infiltrated Facebook which hosts 120 million users.

These Koobface emails contain subject headings like "You look so amazing funny on our new video," followed with a YouTube video which appears to contain a movie clip. But it foils the user in that the video doesn't play.

The site will fraudulently request the user to update and download the video software file which has the harmful code.

And the scam works because on Facebook, only approved friends can message one another, tricking the user into thinking that a friend has sent the message.

If you're a Facebook user, you can go to your security page to find out how you can remove this pesky virus. You should also change your password.

Don't people have anything better to do than to come up with viral schemes to mess with user profiles?
