Hey, remember the '90s? Sure, we all do! It was the decade when BioWare got to show how awesome it was with the its Baldur's Gate role-playing games for PC and Test Drive was still a top-tier racing-game franchise. Atari is planning to bring those series back...but not until 2010. Eurogamer reports:
"Atari plans to revisit the likes of Baldur's Gate, Dungeons & Dragons, Neverwinter Nights and Test Drive Unlimited, but not in the next 12 months. 'You will hear more from these but not today, because we're focused on 2009,' Infogrames president Phil Harrison told hacks assembled at a press event this afternoon."
I'm not too sure Test Drive can make it back to the top. The competition has lapped it (at least twice) and it might be too late. However, all it takes is one great game.... I'd love to see more Baldur's Gate titles -- big time! I beat the original eight times and the sequel thrice. I'd love for a new generation of gamers to experience an updated Baldur's Gate RPG. That said, I'm not sure how relevant any of these franchises will be in 2010. Are you guys up for more D&D, Neverwinter Nights, Test Drive, and Baldur's Gate action?
