The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf has been officially announced by developer CD Projekt as a console-enhanced adaptation coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 next fall. Proclaimed as the "ultimate console RPG", fans of the original PC game looking for a 2nd go-around on a console and the uninitiated, console-only gamers can all look forward to a superior experience featuring:
- New visuals "completely rebuilt pixel by pixel" for consoles running on an entirely new engine
- new animations and
- "a completely new combat system"
"We're not about to dumb down our games for anyone. We want to give players the best games, regardless of platform," added CD Projekt co-founder Michal Kicinski. "Anyone concerned that we're going to somehow offer a shallow RPG or abandon the PC platform simply because we're working on consoles can stop worrying."
It looks like the main beneficiaries are to console gamers who've never touched the series. The question posed to the PC gamers out there who have or haven't played this well-received fantasy action-RPG... does it pique your interest even with the The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and original game itself already available and what would you say to console-only gamers who've never experienced this franchise?
