In Scotland, a man has been given a 3 month prison sentence for singing Homer's "Spider-Pig" song from The Simpsons Movie to Police Officers.
At first glace, this sounds like a ridiculous overreaction, however, the apparent Simpsons fan, 22 year-old David Mullen has made quite a situation for himself. You see, when you're on bail for a previous offense, what you might not want to do, is break curfew, get into a drunken brawl, ending up assaulting a Police Officer, garnering you 8 months of prison. On top of that, while waiting in the Police van, refer to the Police Officers as "ginger," after which, start to belt out a rendition of "Spider-Pig," getting an additional 3 months for "breaching the peace." Yeah...
Mullen actually made the claim that he was only singing the song because it was his ringtone. Well gee, I guess the whole "drunken fights" and "assaulting a Police Officer" thing can be chalked up to GTA IV, then. Also, the reason Mullen apparently has also been abusing alcohol since the age of 12? He'll get back to you when he thinks of something believable. A statement released by the Sheriff read as follows:
It is tragic that you have taken alcohol for almost half of your life. You have a dreadful record for a man of 22. It is now your decision if you want to continue down the tragic and appalling road you have chosen for yourself.
