Harmonix Responds To Drum Pedal Lawsuit

Over the weekend, Raymond brought you the story about a class action lawsuit filed against Harmonix over the drum pedals included with Rock Band. The suit claimed, in essence, that Harmonix conspired to sell faulty drum pedals with Rock Band 1 to force people to buy Rock Band 2 kits.

Harmonix's response:

"Harmonix and MTV Games are dedicated to consumers having an outstanding experience with our products. When used as directed, our drum pedals are designed to provide years of enjoyment. In addition, at the launch of Rock Band we offered consumers an extended opportunity return defective or broken hardware for any reason whatsoever--no questions asked. This litigation is opportunistic and baseless."

This usually happens when products are very successful. People see the money and try to sue. It's the American way, after all. Expect a quick dismissal based on the fact that the kit comes with a warning about stomping the crap out of the pedal and probably isn't covered under warranty.

Either that or Harmonix will have to buy everyone new pedals and ice cream. I hope they asked for ice cream.

Did your pedal break?
