Initial word on the street was that production on Gearbox Software's four player co-op shooter game, Aliens: Colonial Marines had been put on hold.

Now Gearbox President, Randy Pitchford, has put all rumors to rest by confirming that the game has not been cancelled.

"Aliens isn't canned," said Pitchford. "We've made some transformative changes and yes, that's meant some talent changes, but that's not the real story."

Some sources wonder if Gearbox has laid off up to 25 of their employees due to poor sales of Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, as well as the temporary hold on the Aliens game.

The NPD's weekly PC sales chart showed Hell's debut at ninth position, at which point it completely fell off the chart the following week.

Touted as an authentic shooter, Aliens was announced back in February with a staunch pre-production team of writers from the TV show Battlestar Galactica. It was previously due for release in 2009.
