Majesco Plays Nice With PETA

Posted by Sinden Lee - Thursday, November 20, 2008 3:55 PM

Anybody who's unfortunate enough to come within the firing lines of PETA can garner some sympathy here.

Recently, Majesco got skewered by the folks at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals with their own blood-soaked parody called Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals.

PETA's version is similar to the Nintendo DS and Wii series Cooking Mama, except theirs tries to gross out the player to the notion of eating meat by focusing on the killing and cleaning of a turkey in preparation for a Thanksgiving dinner.

It parodies the original Mama as a knife-wielding blood curdling murderess.

It's a good thing Majesco seems to have a gracious sense of humor, as their response to PETA's parody has been affable.

The fictional Mama was quoted as saying, "I would never put rat in my Ratatouille. Like any accomplished cook, I create my recipes to appeal to a broad range of tastes and preferences. My only goal is to ensure you leave the table well fed."

Majesco's latest Cooking Mama World Kitchen features over 25 vegetarian-friendly recipes to boot.  While it states that Mama is not a vegetarian herself, she "fully supports" the humane treatment of animals.

But this isn't enough to hush the vegan zeal of PETA.

In an open letter, they're asking that Majesco create a vegetarian-only Cooking Mama game. They're going so far as to offer their hand at promoting it.

"Even if you don't take the plunge into the wonderful world of vegetarianism yourself, I still hope that you will consider making a vegetarian-only Cooking Mama game."

We got a hunkering this isn't the last of this heated cook off.

Funny, the game didn't gross me out. Just made me want turkey and stuffing. It also made me happy that the turkey I buy for Thanksgiving will be plucked already.

I don't have anything about vegetarians, I have two of them coming to Thanksgiving. But PETA's methods are horrible at best. Almost as bad as those whale guys who throw stuff at the armed whaling boats and cry when they shoot back.

Peta members r psychos they threatened to kill a freinds wife and little girl because he had a pig roast in the parking lot of his radio station in tampa. so please have your peta spayed or neutured.

I wonder if any members of PETA have pets, and if they feed their pets vegies instead of meat. Poor pets.

I know many PETA members, the lowbies are fine, it's the higher ups that are d-bags ruining all

Trying to gross out games with violence probably is the best approach. I know cooking mama is casual but a lot of people playing ds have quite a tolerance for violence and often enjoy the simulated kind.

Posted by WarDead9 - Thursday, November 20, 2008 8:58 PM

well i have played the PETA version and not did it make me laugh but i have noticed that its all just pure propaganda!!!

Posted by GrandGeekKris - Thursday, November 20, 2008 10:15 PM

PETA is nothing more than a front for an eco-terrorist group. Threatening people and using there patented "PETA Shock Value" to make people "feel bad" about the treatment of animals. If you really love animals, support legit organizations like the World Wildlife Fund or the ASPCA.

Dear PETA,
Please get a clue. There are much more heinous animal rights violations in the world to go all nuts about instead of a cooking game that includes *gasp* cooking with meat. Kindly get over yourselves.
Sincerely,
L2K

peta are a bunch of dumbasses

2 the hunting of alot of animals helps prevent them being over populated and die makes less die of starvation. peta get a fricking clue

I hate PETA. Majesco should just go ahead and sue them and be done with it.

Also, watch the south park episode "Vote or Die", it brings it all into perspective.

I agree with frxnkytruant and GrandGeekKris, PETA is nothing more and a bunch of Eco-terrorist, who brainwashed or blackmailed a bunch of celebrities to be there face (kinda like scientology) and PETA has been linked to the death of more animals, than any animal rescue group in the world. Hey PETA, try putting your fellow man before a f'ing rabbit. They run across my lawn all the time and I think "aww how cute" but it if I was on an island loaded with friut trees and that same bunny. It's roast rabbit baby.

Yea. The PETA noobs who don't realize what they're part of are fine. The other ones are indeed a bunch of domestic terrorists/eco-terrorists.

The most fraked up thing is that a lot of the animals in those videos they make with the most messed up footage of tortured animals is THEM torturing animals so that they have something to make a point with. They view it as a minor sacrifice or something to get a point across.
That's totally unacceptable.

It takes a LOT to piss me off. They do it.

PETA is near the top of my list of organizations that will be eradicated without mercy when I become emperor of the world.

Ok, maybe I'm missing something here, but in America you can sue McDonalds and win if your coffee is too hot.

So, why can't Majesco sue Peta for copyright and trademark infringement when they produce something that's such a blatant theft of Intellectual Property?????????

I think I'm going to start a group called PETV. I'm tired of all these PETA people mistreating vegetables. I really don't think that the carrots they eat was hoping to be plucked from the ground, and maybe even a PETF group because the apple that fell from the tree had hopes of one day being an apple tree itself. Damn them for ruining the dreams of these fruits and vegetables. Let them go blind and leave the carrots alone. By the way, the only way to make bacon better is to top it with bacon.

a great story my friend told me. He was working for a company and was getting lunch for his office. One of the girls was a Vegan and PETA supporter. My friend (not knowing this at the time) Ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger. She looks at him and says "do you know what they do to those poor animals." He said back and I quote "No, but it's delicious." and took a big bite.

Posted by Original67 - Friday, November 21, 2008 10:32 AM

that website is FREAKY!!!
I never even liked peta, but HOLY CRUD thats redicolous.

Also on a side note, peta supports buying a disused prison and turning it into a museum about ethicial treatment of lobsters.

Fook PETA. And vegetarians, and hippies.

MEAT = L33T!

Posted by TheAuracle - Saturday, November 22, 2008 8:08 PM

What gets me about PETA is their aggressive nature when preaching about vegetarianism... it's down-right fanatical.

Seriously, they go to great lengths to try and stop people like me from eating this cut of steak and lying to me about how delicious it is. The fools. I already know what it took for this fillet mignon to be here on my plate. Give my condolences to the cow; i'll be too busy thanking it for being so friggin' tasty.

Omnivores FTW!

A vegetarian-only Cooking Mama game? come on PETA. I have nothing against vegetarians or vegans (some of my friends and family are) but PETA takes it way too far. Throwing red paint on fur coats? Well congrats PETA. the animal died for nothing (granted it didnt die for much in the beginning but a rich person wont try and clean the paint off even if they could)

and by the way PETA. if you endorsed the game, NO ONE WOULD BUY IT! your name on it would make it automaticly the worst game ever

Posted by ScottishWookiee - Sunday, November 23, 2008 8:11 PM

PETA is a group of whiney spineless vaginas. I hate animal cruelty, but their bull#$@# makes me want to beat puppies and kittens to within an inch of their life just to make them piss themselves with grief. Big #$#@ing deal, s$@# dies and gets eaten, GET OVER IT.

Posted by Shojiro - Monday, November 24, 2008 9:48 AM

Animal rights is a joke. If it can't look up at me and say, "Hey dude, what the crap?" I shall eat it if it is tasty and goes good with ketchup.
