Gamasutra posted an interesting article in which it interviewed industry analysts on which games will "miss" in the 2008 holiday season. Given the huge glut of titles typically available at the end of the year, there are always good and/or high-profile games that lose out. Given current economic conditions, games that were once viewed as surefire hits are anything but. Some interesting "misses" include Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Need for Speed Undercover, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Shaun White Snowboarding, Tomb Raider Underworld, and Animal Crossing: City Folk.

Some of these choices are surprises. Sequels to long-running franchises with loyal followings are oftened viewed as easy hits, irrespective of the game's quality. Are the analysts right? Will these games (relatively) flop? Or is this another case of gaming analysts talking out of a certain orifice? Will you buy any of the titles listed above or will you avoid them like the plague?
