
Pending shareholder approval, Japanese game makers Koei and Tecmo have announced their merger.
The new holding company will be called Koei Tecmo Holdings. It will retain Tecmo's current CEO and chairman, Yasuharu Kakihara as its chairman, and current Koei chairman, Kenji Matsuhara will be the new CEO.
Both companies will remove themselves from the Tokyo Stock Exchange listing before they open under the auspice of the new name on April 1, 2008.
Key players from both companies appeared in a press conference where Mr. Matsuhara said they will focus to create global brands.
Koei Tecmo is expected to hit sales figures of ¥700,000 million (US $7.25 million) by fiscal year 2011.
