Well, it looks like that Dengeki poll -- the one that said 40.7 percent of Japanese gamers surveyed would not buy a Nintendo DSi -- was a bunch of crap. According to Media Create, Nintendo sold 104,897 DSi units last week, bringing its total up to 276,822. That's more than twice the sales of the next-best selling system (Sony's PlayStation Portable) and four times the sales of the number-three system (Nintendo's Wii). The DSi went on sale earlier this month.
Those are particularly strong numbers considering Japan's economy and I expect sales to remain strong leading up to the holidays (yeah I know -- bold prediction there!). For those commenters that are complaining that the DSi is not available in their region, please remember that Japan was pretty saturated DS/DS Lite systems, while sales in other parts of the world are still going strong. It would be stupid to release the DSi anywhere outside of Japan in 2008.
