'Thor' Animated Series In The Works

Posted by Joseph Baxter - Friday, November 14, 2008 12:49 PM

It seems that Marvel's Thor will be getting his own animated series. The Norse God's new series will hit in 2010, the same year that the Kenneth Branagh-directed feature film version will hit theaters. However, he will not be alone in holding the series/movie distinction.

Eric Rollman, Marvel president of animation has said that this series is in keeping with the plan to follow each live-action Marvel film with an animated series. The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes is already in production, set for 2011 to support The First Avenger: Captain America and the franchise-bearing follow-up film, The Avengers.

So people, all I can say is PREPARE YOURSELVES. In 2010, the hype begins. By 2011, you will be drowning in Marvel/Avengers-related material. The marketing machine of Marvel is set to blitz mass media in a way that I suspect will be unprecedented. Video game sections and toy shelves will certainly not be safe either.

You know what, though? If the films are good...then I'll take it.

if they really DO follow each movie with a show...the air waves will be so crowded with marvel crap that we won't even be able to breath! i mean honestly how many marvel heroes are there? exactly? i'm not sure but i know DC has like 200 (i think) and each one is practicaly the same...except batman and superman

there are a crapload more than 200 marvel heroes, actually before like.......2004 there used to be more mutants than that. hopefully in the flood of marvel shows, quality is produced and nothing like teen titans or that stupid "transformers animated" or whatever that garbage's called

Wohoo I have his hammer you know, sucks I can't lift it. But I like the new Thor comic with Asgard being in Oklahoma that was a nice touch. However they need to lay back on the animated heroes for a while unless Marvel plans on having its own channel like Disney. How many versions of X-Men and Spider-Man have we been through already? Throw in the animated Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, the multiple Fantastic Four series, Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider, and The Avengers (that last one season) series. What’s next Hero’s for Hire, The Cable and Deadpool show, or Moon Knight and me? On a side note Punisher: Warzone trailers are showing Marvel Knights as a studio if Marvel is going to have a darker studio for their darker movie products they better use that for the rumored Dare-Devil reboot

I hope its not in an that little kid anime style that cartoons are starting to gravitate to. For the most part the 90's was the best time for cartoons especially superhero cartoons.(Except for spiderman unlimited cause that one was just bad)
