'Left 4 Dead' Direct-Feed Gameplay Footage

To commemorate tomorrow's launch of the public demo of Valve's zombie FPS romp, Left 4 Dead, we wanted to share the first approximate 15 minutes of the game with you. Join us as we run for our lives through dark alleys and hordes of the undead in this bit of direct-feed video. For those of you who've gained early access to the demo feel free to mock our molotov cocktail-tossing technique, for the rest of you enjoy the urban zombie safari.

I'm all for the demo. Always been interesting in checking this out. And, since It won't be coming to the PS3, I guess that leaves 2 choices. I still think it's coming, just no time soon.

seriously play harder modes.... and play it on the friggen comp not the xbox. lawlz at the guy wasting the molotov, you threw it at 3 zombies.... cant wait till the 18th to play the full game. the demo is so addictive by itself.

Its also been fun playing as zombies, (even tho your not suppoesed to beable to.) but on the comp you just enter a few commands into the command box or whatever its called, the squiggly line thing (~) and you can play as a boomer, hunter, tank, or smoker. using the hunter, you can see all the stuff thats not finished in the demo, like roofs that arent rendered or the edge of the map. i was suprised to see how old the demo version actually was.

yah, this is a pc game to the max, if its just for the player created content, thats what makes all valve games rock. Plus free dlc. not paying for map packs...

Looks like fun but, why are there so many Zombies staning on furniture. Do they just want to sit down and relax but, some d-bag comes in and just shoots them- poor zombies..

I would get this on pc because in my opinion all valve's game are better on the pc, but my computer sucks so I have been getting them for the 360. Still can't wait for this game.

"First 15" is just how we label these types of videos.

Usually, they run over and actually end up near 16-18 minutes.

Sometimes they run under.

Don't kill us over 2 minutes :P

I was looking forward to this but after watching this game honestly I"m dissapointed. It looks like just another first person shooter to me, and looks like its real repetitive. I think I changed my mind on getting this one. maybe when I play the demo I will change my mind.

This game better be much more difficult than this demo showed. That shotgun had the "hit everything that appears on screen no matter where you aim" qualities of the Doom era FPSs. Maybe thats just the console version aiming for you, but they are still questionable mechanics. /concerned.

I would get a lil bit more interested if the graphic didn't suck, cause the gameplay is absolutely nothing new, expect for the fact that these zombies are the fastest i've seen in a videogame.

I hope u r right. I've loved Valve games since the beginning. I have no question that gameplay and level design will be top notch. Survival games more than any other really do benefit from an increased difficulty curve. PC demo is tomorrow as well right?

i agree with kobe, i was not that impressed with the graphics...i think they look terrible compared to an open world like GTA IV. looks like a blast, but the graphics are terrible

This is what I took away from the video,

Highly Repetitive

A.I. looks horrible

No skill needed to play (using a shot gun and nothing shoots back?)

Low detailed textures

looks like a valve game

I guess you just really need to love zombie killing to like this game

Zombie games are way too played out for me to even like this game a little bit!

But on a side note: I just finished the Gears 2 campain tonight on medium in co-op, it took about 15 hrs. and it was the most amazing game i've ever played period! The best visuals in gaming to date!

No they look pretty good on the pc.
As G4 and alot of console centric sites tend to just ignore the pc, they probably wont pick up on that.

I think that zombie just sexually assaulted the main character and left him "Incapacitated" then you have to be "revived" but you can still shot when your dead??

ive been playing the demo like nonstop since i got the early release thing on thursday and i didnt even notice any flaws. i musta been focusing too much on the awesomeness of the rest of the game to see any

i can't believe everyone is talking crap about this game. he is playing on easy, which i beat in about 20 minutes. then i went through it on the hardest mode and it took three hours. and plus, THE GAME WAS DIFFERENT EVERY TIME I DIED AND TRIED AGAIN.

just play it with a friend or 3, there is no way you won't have fun.

I hate how your teammates glow and the Valve engine does look very dated compared to gears of war 2. It looks like Half-Life 2 with zombies in the dark with shotguns.

Thank You Valve and MS for making my decision NOT to buy Left 4 Dead so much easier. Demo out today? Wow Cool- Oh, Wait?- you have to be a XBox Live "Gold" member to check it out?- Not Cool. And for your, who said that graphics is not a problem, I respectfully disagree. I mean if Gears of War had poor graphics, I'll see alot of your complaining about it. Good gameplay, poor graphics: that's a decent game. There are 2 things that make a game appealing, the graphics and the gameplay. The story is not necessary a big point in a game, but still games need good story

i guess it might just be me but valve's engine looks VERY dated, it might still be fun but i'm all about graphics and this game DOESN'T have the hook to pull me in. this just looks like another resident evil 4 rip off...just like dead space and just like the other crap that valve and capcom have spued out this and last year. it's crap but like every other game x-play review it'll get a 5 out of 5....what a 4uckin surprise

I think the possibility of it being pretty repetitive would be the thing i'd be most worried about. What are they gonna do to switch things up throughout. As far as graphics, these are more than good enough for a game like this, you won't be sitting around inspecting the art design too much. By the way that is one of the reasons you pc gamers are killing your own medium. You spend money on these insane rigs then you want a game to max it so people with regular computers end up not being able to play at all. less sales less games.
