Marvel Studios Gets Director For Captain America

Joe Johnston, responsible for directing such films like Jurassic Park III and Jumanji, will direct First Avenger: Captain America. Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige is producing this feature.

Captain America was originally created in 1941 for Timely Comics by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon, and became a symbol of the war effort, in and out of comics.

He disappeared in the 1950's but Marvel Comics reintroduced him as part of the Avengers.

Captain America is slated for release in 2011 as Marvel Studios builds toward an Avengers movie in which the characters from Iron Man, its sequel, and Thor all team for one big adventure.

This version as directed by Johnston, will be a set in World War II and Captain America's character will appear on the modern day-set Avengers.
