Just a friendly tip from your friends at G4tv.com: on Saturday, November 8th at Wal-Mart the following deal is available at 8AM:

Purchase a $399 80GB PlayStation 3 and receive a $100 gift-card FREE.

The ad notes that this is only "while supplies last", but each store will receive a minimum of 4 PS3's to sell. We recommend getting there early if you want to get this deal.

They are also selling the $129 PlayStation 2 with a $30 gift card if you still need one of those (again, minimum of 4).

Now that's a sweet deal. I wouldn't take an Xbox 3FixMe for free. It would still cost me because I have to pay to play online but we all know that I'm not that stupid. Besides, there's only 1 good game on the Xbox 3FixMe anyway.

I think thats a great buy. $399-$100 = $299.00
what more can you ask. You can upgrade the the hard drive anytime you want and on the PSN you can download a PS2 emulation to play PS2 games.

i seem to remember you saying something about circuit city having to give gears 2 away because of the microsoft points being offered with the purchase. and it was a pretty good little jab, i'll give you that.
using your own argument though, kinda seems like ps3 now needs the help.
i'm wondering how many people are going to buy the ps3, use it as a christmas present, and then turn around and use the gift card to pick up gears and 3 month live membership. that would be a hilarious statistic.

if only i didn't already have a ps3. owning both 360 and ps3, PSN has actually improved tenfold since it first released. the online infrastructure isn't as bad as everyone (xbox fanboys) claim...because of course they don't play on it, so they wouldn't know

This is a smart promotion by Wal-Mart. They know that the PS3s will fly off of shelves this holiday season and they want people to come to Wal-Mart instead of anywhere else. Smart move Wal-Mart. People are buying HDTVs all over the place and they want true Hi-Def games and they want to watch Hi-Def Blu-Ray movies too, so the PS3 is the way to go. They also want built in Wi-Fi and they want to know that it won't break every month like the Xbox 3FixMe and they want good games to play now and next year which we all know that the Xbox 3FixMe has no good games after Gears 2. The choice is easy.

If L4D is any good it will be on the PS3 next year like the Orange Box. Halo Wars? Let's see if it sells 8 million like the last Halo game and that will let you know that Halo is going down hill. Likewise, there is nothing on the Xbox 3FixMe that interest me. LBP got best game at E3 not L4D. Like I said, the PS3 will steal L4D from you just like we did Bioshock, your best game. Bioshock- GOTY 2007, not Halo or Gears.

The new 80gb machines have the same functionality that the 40gb machines have/had. That is according to Tretton at EA. The MGS4 bundles are bc though.

Just like CC has to give away M$ points to push that piece of crap game Gears. Face it people, whether you agree with RROD or not, 360 is total garbage. No games, POOR hardware, fees to play online when other services surpass it, I mean it has no redeeming qualities. Buy a PS3 and get it all, then get a Wii because that can't be missed either. If you prefer FPS's, get a PC so you're not stuck with baby versions and their incredibly inferior controller input.

Actually yes they do need to give away $100 gift cards. In fact I've talked to a couple of retailers and they said that the most recent incarnation of the PS3 is "useless" lack of titles, NO backwards compatibility at all, and downgraded hardware. I'm not so sure about the PS3 right now.

You guys do realize why circuit city did the gears 2 thing right. (they're hurting right now and they need people to come there to try and not go out of buisness) I know the 360 has no games. Fable 2 must suck but it got .75 more than resistance 2 from gameinformer. I know the 360 doesn't have halo recon coming out. The 360 is not going to have fora 3 come out next year of course. Gears 2 is the only game, and in the end it will still last me longer then Resistance would with a terrible multiplayer and no horde, or MgS4(last me maybe 18 hours), or my week of making remakes off of halo 3 forge in LBP.

Gears 2 TOMARROW. Hope runs deep.

I own a PS3 and really only play(ed) 2 games. MGS4 (went trhough it once, never played again NO REPLAYABILITY) Resistance2 (till gears comes out, Nathan Hale has nothing on Marcus Fenix). I don't understand the draw of Little Big Planet (I want to play a video game not build one...sh-t) Uncharted is NOT good (You know it, sorry bro). Heavenly Sword isn't my kind or game (besides Street Fighter looks better anyways). However I can't WAIT till God of War 3...

What I can't understand is why all the 360 bashing, did it sleep with your girlfriend (though i doubt you have one)?. You have to admit, Gears is the best next gen franchise (you know it, come on). Halo 3 wasn't that bad (haters). Mass Effect was/is AMZAING (first part of a Triloigy). And don't forget the 360 had bioshock first (who brags about sloppy seconds)

Oh and RROD, the first gears came out in 06 and was given GOTY

Last thing(s) Halo Wars, as stated before, is COMPLETELY different from any other halo game and I'm guessing (like me) alot of gamers aren't into real-time strategy games. Recon is a much more exceptable comparison (it won't sell 8 mill, but it'll hit 5 at least).

Till God of War PS3 does not have a game that is going to sell units. Like Halo and gears does for the 360

If the 360 games are so great, why is the PS3 catching up? Nothing you say in these comment sections is going to change that. fact, 360 has sold more software then the wii and ps3 combined.
fact, 360 has sold 24 million units, ps3 has sold 17.4 million.
fact, Gears of war 2 has averaged 5 percent higher ratings then resistance 2.(gameinformer gave 9, resistance 8.5, for example)
fact, 360 is dominating the ps3, wii is really dominating ps3, ps3 is in dead last by a long shot.

I also own both consoles and my PS3 library more than doubles my 360 library. All these dopey kids that come here and say things like the PS3 has no games are just plain ignorant. I buy the worthy exclusives for my 360. All multi-platform releases that I choose to buy go to my PS3. I'm just more comfortable with/enjoy and trust my PS3 more than my 360 (on my 3rd 360)... and any game that includes an online component goes to my PS3. It just makes no logical sense to me to have to pay an extra $50 a year to play a game online that I already paid $60+ bucks for. I don't have to pay a dime extra to play on my PS3. It's not the cost that bothers me, it's just consumer principle.

There are also the other ignorants who come here and say things like the PS3 is in last place, etc. Those idiots forget (or don't care to acknowledge) that the 360 had a whole year head start on the PS3, so naturally, there are more 360 consoles sold, more games for it, and multiplats sell more for that console. Now if you compare sales of both on a year by year basis from their respective launch date, you'll see that the PS3 clearly seems to be selling stronger than the 360. Yes... Sony is losing money, and MS seems to be profiting, but who gives a crap, and how does that affect anyone here unless you work directly for either company? FWI, I've played Halo 3 and didn't like it. I don't see what all the hype was about. I've been on Xbox Lag and I didn't see anything worth paying for. My PSN can do the same things except send voice messages which I have had a phone for for years. When I want to leave my friends messages I'm not going to turn on my gaming system, I'll just pull out my phone which I take with me everywhere and guess what, my phone never breaks. Gears is just OK to me. Certainly not worth buying an unreliable system and paying to play it. Sorry, the Xbox 3FixMe has NOTHING that interest me. The PSN is better for the simple fact that I don't have to listen to a bunch of racist, potty mouth 10 and 12 year olds every day.

We also have NXE coming out this month with netflix, downloadable games, 8 person chat and party, there is no way PSN can top that even with your lame version of the sims(HOME).

NXE won't deliver half of that stuff as promised. PSN has movies and a mature community, Xbox Lag can't compete with that. Xbox Lag is so bad that M$ has to come up with a censorship device to stop all you 12 year olds from cursing everybody out and calling them ni99ers. PSN has 6 person chat and it's all free. Home beats the heck out of dressing Miis.

MS announced that they had plenty of games that they haven't mentioned that are coming out next year. But sony unleashed there lineup of games that would be coming out from 2009-2011 so you probably wont be see that many more games during then.

Wrong on all counts Donthate. 360 fails in practically every way, if you listen to anyone with a brain (read - non xbot) the facts say otherwise. I know the Wii is beating both and that's great. But PS3 is also beating 360 in terms of games, variety, hardware, online, you name it.

Gears is kiddie crap. Nothing else needs to be said there. Children own a 360, and they'll be stupid enough to buy that sad excuse for a game. As if they haven't played enough shooters, huh? Gotta be pretty mindless by now, go figure.

Sad thing is wallyworld tries to spur sales, not try to dump PS3 stock. They just happened to choose the superior console. If they sold the 360 with a card to raise some sales would the xbot kiddies be saying the same?

No your almost right. MS has said that if 360 doesnt do well with Wiis casual audience this christmas that they will be releasing new hardware(console) by 2010. I guess MS is comfortable with having a 5 year life cycle and moving to the "gamers" that will give them the money that the Wii is getting. start saving xbox fans. you will have a new console very soon!

here ill break it down for you so you dont get confused

the ps3 sells more
the ps3 has more exclusives (although gears 2 is great in its own way)
the ps3 has more features
the ps3 is able to display in full hd
the ps3 makes less noise
the ps3 doesnt break a third of the time
the ps3 has a harddrive, standard, that can be upgraded without voiding the warranty
the ps3 has a future beyond another year and a half
i can name more than one game dropping in 09 that im TRULY excited about


what is the problem fellas? i dont understand.
get yourself a job and get off the mediocre kiddy console with 2 good exclusive ips

all you kids will buy a ps3 next year, write it down

Dude, just shut up. Seriously, your not helping the PS3. Your just making it worse. Listen to yourself. You sound like an idiot. I love the PS3, I've loved Sony systems more than any other; but sometimes, I like to play games on the 360. The Halo games are fun, Halo Wars, looks fun; Call of Duty, looks really fun. Every system has its strengths and weaknesses. I don't get why you and everyone else need to sound like politicians and bring up such old problems with either system that they are or will be fixed soon. notice you all sound like Bush trying to dfend the war in Iraq. If your gonna make fun of a system, at least make fun of the Wii, cause if you guys keep bagging on the PS3 and Xbox 360, then people will continue to buy Wii's without knowing the problems with it, and the next gen systems will all be like the Wii.
