A little while back we reported that Japanese publication Famitsu had given Grand Theft Auto IV a 39/40 over LittleBigPlanet's 38/40, but we didn't know if this would translate into a big sales difference.
Turns out it did.
Last week, the PlayStation 3 version of GTA IV has moved 133,000 copies and claimed the #1 spot on the charts. LittleBigPlanet clocked in at 52,000 for a #3 finish. That's more than double.
The Xbox 360 version of GTA IV also managed to squeak into the charts at #7 with 34,000 copies sold.
This continues to confuse us, as LittleBigPlanet seems perfectly suited to the Japanese audience. Apparently, they prefer to live the American dream as a violent immigrant.
