Obama And Palin Coming to 'Mercenaries 2' As Playable Characters

Turns out that the rumors were true! Barack Obama and Sarah Palin are indeed coming to Mercenaries 2: World in Flames as playable characters in an upcoming update.

Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb revealed the news just moments ago on X-Play in the Gaming Update.

Tom Stratton of Pandemic Studios gave the following statement to X-Play:

"Mercenaries 2 is a game seemingly ripped straight out of today's headlines and fueled with the same type of over-the-top action found in the best summer blockbuster films. It only makes sense we inject the game with a spin on current affairs. The timing was too good to let pass.

Pandemic needs to work on the technical issues in this game like the constant glitching, not this.

Like Mr Eko 73, I also turned in my copy for Saint's Row 2 after waiting and waiting for the "Total Payback" update that never came. Pandemic sucks.

His tax plan is HORRIBLE! How can you put tax relief on people 250k and below when our economy is in TRILLIONS of debt? That income level is about..oh say..90% of the populace? Yes! As well, how would you feel your taxes are going to help to pay for the medical bills of dumb people who break their legs on skateboard jumping off huge buildings, or drug adicts having to OD and all that other fun stuff.

staying out of the political arena.. (let's just say some of you guys are making arguments as weak as your candidate....)

I understand Pandemic has always made Mercenaries a "tounge in cheek" style of game on the political spectrum... but you'd think they'd work on the TECHNICAL stuff before adding in these add-ons?

I could understand if the Technical stuff wasn't as bad as I've read, but considering how bad the games running (from all reports)... shouldn't the comedy stuff have waited a little longer?

PS: To answer the question about why Palin and Obama? Because their appearances are different from the standard "white male character". (not intended as a racist or sexist remark...) just that if you see them on the screen, you recognize them immediately.

Man I have to disagree with you. The man is a socialist. Redistributing the wealth is paramount to the socialist movement. He has said he will do this. Look at it this way...you have a family...your children get an allowance....your taxes get raised or some huge bills come up....you can no longer afford to give your children allowance....therefore you must cut it off. Apply this same mode of thinking to a business...taxes are raised on a business that makes over 250k *he has never said if that is net of taxes/operating expenses/ retained earnings* and you will have a worse condition in this country because of extremely high unemployment.

People in this country feel so entitled to everything now. The constitution says what you are entitled too...legislators shouldn't. Universal healthcare....no thankyou. Ask someone from Ireland or China how universal healthcare operates. It will make you shiver.

i believe giving tax breaks to middle class is way to bring balance back. that isn't socialism. for it to be socialism the gov. would have a hand in everything businesses do.

deregulation has done nothing good for this country.

To McCain supporters: I don't know if you've noticed, but we already have a system in place where rich people pay more than poor people. It's called INCOME TAX. I honestly don't mind if you vote for McCain (not like your vote or mine actually matters, what with the Electoral College), but do it because you've THOUGHT about it, applied your brain, maybe did some research, and understood the issues. Not because someone told you Obama was the bogeyman.

Trickle down does work. Quick question for ya...how many poor people have given you a job? 0 huh? Yeah...if you tax the hell out of them and their businesses then they cut back on labor expense and raises. Think of your paycheck..if more was taken out of it...wouldn't you spend less and find ways to reduce present costs? Yep. Trickle down works.

I don't trust Obama. I don't trust McCain either. I will not vote for Obama because he will be able to run government unchecked. Pelosi and Reid will control the congress. This government has always worked best with opposing parties in control of those two branches. Also the electoral college keeps the system fair. If you didn't have the electoral college then candidates would campaign in New York City, L.A., Chicago and Houston. Just the large populace areas. The rest of the states and areas be damned. Hope you are more educated now.
