It seems that Sam Raimi is really psyched to do more Spider-Man sequels. After the recent revelation that Raimi planned to shoot two more (final) Spidey films at the same time, it has now been revealed that he solidified that commitment by giving up making the new Tom Clancy "Jack Ryan" series film to which he was attached.
“I love Tom Clancy, and I hope they’d keep me in mind,” Raimi shrugged, admitting that he couldn’t realistically make a Jack Ryan movie for half a decade or more. “But because I’m committed to ‘Spider-Man and making that picture, I think it’s going to knock me out of the running for the Jack Ryan picture.”
Raimi is said to be "really excited about Spider-Man." We've seen two Spider-Man films where Raimi's heart was in it (Spider-Man 1 & 2) and one where he was forced to compromise his creative control and include a villain that did not fit (Spider-Man 3), so this may be good news for fans. To know that we have a rededicated and possibly refocused Raimi at the helm of these sequels may mean we have GOOD things in store for us fans.
