Update to our earlier story:
Sony is recalling PlayStation 3 platformer LittleBigPlanet across the actual planet. The reason for the recall:
"During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur'an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offense that this may have caused." Sony said in a short statement.
The quote appears in the first 30 seconds of the background music to the Swinging Safari level.
This will delay the release of the game, originally scheduled for this Tuesday. No word yet on when the game will actually hit shelves.
Update: The "offending" song can be found here.
Apparently, the passages say:
"kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death'.
"kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish'.
