John Lennon's Birthday

Posted October 9, 2008 - By Joseph Baxter

Before we close out the day, we would be remiss not to acknowledge that on October 9, 1940, John Winston Lennon came into this world. He started a little band with some guy named Paul, fired a guy named Pete, sold some records...yada yada.

In all seriousness; regardless of your musical (or political) leanings, his music had a tremendous impact on the world. Its ubiquity transcended so many layers of nations around the world in ways that are incalculable. Cut down by a demented gunman at an age far too young for anyone to accept, he will always be missed.

Do yourself a favor tonight; break out the Lennon you have on your playlist (or bring out your vinyl if you're super l33t like me.) If you don't have any, then go to YouTube and look up what you can find.

RIP John Lennon.
