Even as the global economy falls to ruin, Iron Man DVDs are doing quite well, opening a first week of sales to record numbers. 7.2 million SD and 500,000 Blu-ray discs were moved with the opening day Blu-ray sales of 260,000 setting a new record.
Loaded with extras, which has become standard fare for any successful DVD sales streak, Iron Man has a 2-hour documentary on the science and implementation of the suits, featurettes on the visual effects used, and the usual deleted scenes and behind the scenes interviews. The "Ultimate Edition" also has a history of the character going all the way back to Stan Lee's creation of the scotch-swilling hero.
Of course, all this DVD sales success will be soon eclipsed by The Dark Knight, but for now, Iron Man is king.
