'KOTOR' MMO Unveiling October 21?

Last week, we told you about a rumor swirling 'round the internets that EA and BioWare are preparing an official announcement for their upcoming MMORPG based on the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic universe. Turns out, according to Gamasutra, the unveiling may come this October 21.

According to the report, a postcard, received by Gamasutra, stated the following:

"The wait is over" and promises "the official unveiling of the game that's been rumored about for years," makes no explicit reference to Star Wars. It is branded with the LucasArts and BioWare logos and depicts floating robots and hooded figures in futuristic interior locations reminiscent of the sci-fi franchise."

So, wait, this means on the same launch day of LittleBigPlanet and Fable II, we're still getting this earth-shattering announcement if it becomes true? Brace yourselves folks...

i still dont understand. is this for the pc or the 360 or both. sice all kotor have been on the xbox i dont see why this one wouldnt

I would imagine that it would be released on both pc and 360 since thats what the other 2 were released on. hopefully they will release it on mac since the first one was on mac as well.
I doubt it will come to the ps3 (although that would be cool)

Why the heck are they making a KOTOR MMO? Most MMOs don't even turn a profit. World of Warcraft dominates that market.

Why can't they just continue the story with a KOTOR 3? According to what I've read, that's what most of the fans want. I'd rather they just make another RPG as well.

id definatly want KOTOR 3 instead of a MMO. hows this gonna work a bunch of jedi and sith all running around swinging their lightsabers about....it doesnt even make a lightsaber that great anymore when everyone and their brother has one.

It will end up being SWG, the prequel. It will be little more than another George Lucas ego trip. I'll bet they even include a mush-mouthed annoying alien and a whiny, badly voiced jedi (since Lucas is no longer capable of producing an original thought).

LucasArts needs to listen to the fans for once and not make a MMO, make a real KotOR 3 instead. But since LA never listens to the fans, that's not going to happen.

hey, here's a thought, why don't we just wait and see what the game will be like before bitching and moaning about how its not KOTOR 3.

Has Bioware made a bad game yet? Why don't you give them the benefit of the doubt and see what they come up with instead of thinking you know more than the people who are involved in making the game and who have made great games since day 1.

I loved the KOTOR games but if its an MMO I will be dissapointed. I wouldn't buy it, I hate MMOs. Charged to play a game on a monthly basis pfft.

I don't know where people got the idea its going to be an MMO. According to the original official press release from October 30th, 2007. It only states that LucasArts and BioWare are working on a "Ground-Breaking Interactive Entertainment Product". So that could be online, offline, or both for that matter. Plus no where in the press release does it say its a Star Wars game either, but who knows it might be. So stop spreading rumors, just wait until October 21st and we will all know what they are working on.

bioware only makes good games. but that doesn't change the fact that I WANT KOTOR 3 not an mmo. especially since 2 left on a cliffhanger. there's huge demand for this! do we have to wait for bethesda to buy the property 10 years from now like fallout and turn it into an fps rpg. I DON'T WANT THAT!

Who cares if its MMO. The story of KOTOR and TSL weren't exctly the greatest ever told. Being able to choose sides is what made the game and an MMO would be perfect for that. MMO or not its going to be good.

Everyone complaining about KoToR being made into an MMO should go K!LL themselves. Anyone who is so torn up about a game title has no life and should eather.

A. Go outside, look around, and realize that the realworld is not inside your PC/XBox/PS3 ect..ect...Its a game get over it.

B. Take your personal gameing devices power cable, make a nose out of it hang it from somewhere high up,,,,,,,AND K!LL yourself.

First of all, Chainer is a D-bag. Secondly, I would rather see KOTOR 3, but I will buy the MMO as long as it has no monthy fee.

How they decide that an MMO would be better than an RPG is beyond me. All that I have read about since KOTOR 2 is "we want KOTOR 3". Never have I heard talks about an MMO until I heard it from G4.
