'RF Online' Shutting Down Servers

Posted October 6, 2008 - By Patrick Roche-Sowa

RF Online, the MMO that Codemasters cut their teeth on, has been given a death sentence. On November 10th, Codemasters will shut down all RF Online servers they control, essentially taking the game away from the western gaming market.

This unfortunate event comes as a result of failed negotiations between Codemasters and CCR, the Korean gaming company that holds the rights to the original RF Online property. Because an agreement could not be met, Codemasters will lose their rights to localizing the game for English speaking, western countries, and must turn the game off in the next month or so. All monetary transactions have been ceased to prepare for November 10th, and no new accounts or subscriptions will be created. We hate to bring bad news, but Codemasters is just as sad as you are to see their first online baby go.
