New 'Halo Wars' Cinematic

Following up the "Five Long Years" revealed at E3, this brand new "Field Trip to Harvest" cinematic for Ensemble Studios' Halo Wars offers up some new details of the sci-fi RTS.  Get a first look at the main cast of the UNSC forces as they make their approach on a Covenant gathering planetside. 

Enjoy the beautiful cinematic as it answers as many questions as it poses new ones, and prepare for battle in 2009 on your Xbox 360.

Is that what you Xbots are excited about? A real time stradegy? What's next, Halo racing? This will suck. Halo 3 was a big let down and this will be too. How many ways can M$ pimp out Halo.

Tom Clancy's End War will be much better than this crap. It's very clear that M$ has nothing that will sell other than Gear 2 so they will beat a dead horse with Halo this and Halo that. Pretty soon, Halo won't interest any Xbots anymore and then what?

I noticed that they never show game play footage. Could it be that they know that this game is average at best? I know it. Real Time Strategies are boring. Name one RTS game that's a big hit. You can't.

Like I said before, Halo is the new Mario. M$ will make as many variations of Halo as Nintendo did with Mario. At Least they were smart enough to scrap the Halo MMO. That was going to suck big time and the Xbots would have had to pay a fee on top of the XBL fee.

These are the Halo games that we know of: Halo MMO(scrapped), Halo Wars, Peter Jackson's Halo(whatever that is), Halo 4, Halo Kart, Halo and Gears at the Olympics, Halo Golf, Halo Tennis, Halo Sluggers, Halo Strikers, Paper Halo, and Super Halo Bros.

The gameplay will look nothing like this. I've seen videos and it is crap plus it's an RTS.

Few things about the video. Isn't the game supposed to take place when they first start fighting the Covenant and if so why are they already on Harvest. Also I never knew there was forerunner artifacts on Harvest.

This game is going to fail hard. All iterations of Halo should be shooters and try to follow an accurate storyline in the Halo Universe.

I see why MS is shutting down Ensemble after they made this piece of crap. They probably wanted to can this project but put so much into development they figured might as well release and get back w/e money they. Ensemble=fail

That's funny as hell.
I have to say though many people will disagree with RROD bacause of his anty xbox rants, he does make some good points. As much as I love Halo 3. It was a let down. I wouldn't say a major letdown. But I just didn't get that satisfying feeling of completing the game as I thought I would. I mean after the build up of Halo 2 and the way it left me hanging there. I wanted to exact my anger of bieng b!tch slapped by Halo 2 out on 3. But I just never got that satifying challenge and from beating the game.

Wow ! Beautiful cinematic !

Can't wait to get more story, the Halo books are great and this looks pretty good too.

Of course gameplay won't look like that , it's an RTS but it looks very captivating.

The thing is with Halo branching out on so many projects is that Microsoft now owns the rights to it, and want to see how they can continue the story of Halo by other means, instead of a FPS.

I will have to agree, that Halo should stick to being a FPS. That is at it's roots, and what drew people to the original and built the fan base.

Halo Wars will get a big buy rate once it comes out for any RTS fans, but I doubt it would attract anyone who's pure fans of the original series.

Personally, I'll only play a Halo game from Bungie, because only they know how to truly keep the story going.

Halo Wars looks cool. The game itself is built for the 360, so the controls should be pretty good. The battles also look like a lot of fun. Graphically, it looks pretty amazing, both cinematic and gameplay. Defidently can't wait for the game to come out.

Maibe bungie has something up their sleeves with this coming DLC. But how many Halo's will MS make. I mean is Master Chief MS's, Solid Snake (What there are like 80 MetalGears out there...) . One thing for sure is that Halo if a great world and needs to be explored in greater detail. This is a major war that according to the game took a great number of years. I mean there are millions of WWII games and that was 8 years tops. There are other stories to tell in the Halo universe. Special Ops, Squad Based 3rd person, Spy stealth. These stories can be told from both the Marines and the Elite's view.
They can make as many games as they want to fit in that universe... JUST AS LONG AS THEY ARE GOOD, QUALITY GAMES.

These cinematics look amazing. I originally wasn't even going to play this game, but now I'd kind of like to rent it.

I think they need a squad-based UNSC Marine plotline, one that's more similar to COD4 than Halo. Because they cover the experience of being so far in the frontlines that you're alone with Halo, but I'd like to fight in numbers against a seemingly unstoppable force.

I really think they could make an amazing FPS without Master Chief being the main character.

I'm really starting to think that RROD is actually on the G4 payroll to come into the forums and start a flame war. This way all kinds of people sign in or sign up just to throw in their 2 cents against him (or her).

Seriously, who cares THAT much? It would be simple math for G4 to realize there are more 360 owners so throwing in an anonymous enemy to the 360 will get more people on the site e.g. more hits e.g. more advertising dollars. Notice he never REALLY replies to anyone with something substantial.

If he's not on the payroll... he should be. That might get him off the pee stained mattress in his grandma's basement and out in to the world to meet chicks (or dudes).

halo 3 online was fun until COD4 came out, then the battles in halo just became.....weak. but it was fun for the 4 or 5 months i played it. RTS games are a niche, and it seems most people who like FPS usually dont like RTS games, like myself. RROD cracks me the hell up. i love his witty banter. dont get mad at him, just if your an xbot, then stand your ground. i own both systems, so call me neutral. i just enjoy being amused

This game looks good. It'll be different playing a Halo RTS. Guess we'll have to wait and see if this'll be good. In the mean time I'm still anticipating LBP. Only 15 more days.

The RedRingOfDeath can be taken away by a new chip... Sure the falcon model can SOMETIMES BREAK.. But a jasper..... NO WAY, There is no possible way for the Xbox 360 to get the red ring of death.. maybe you should learn, and stop being a sellout and stop jumping on the Bandwagon.....

When it was originaly concieved in the late 90's it was meant to be an RTS on a mac platform of all things. As to the game being crappy, well, they delayed it so I take that as a positive sign that they are putting some serious effort into it. I hope it comes out for pc, I admit that I am not excited about console RTS; however, bungie has put together great story lines before. I was disappointed with Halo 3 as well, but I have a feeling Microsoft forced an ending that they didn't want, and in all likely hood no one would have been satisfied with any ending after they world they had crafted. Its the same guys who age of the empires so Im going to give them a chance

Its weird because every time the PS3 gets something good like DLC you praise it like a GOD.... For example...

Ok. I just got a 60GB 360 Pro, and I can't get into Live. I don't have MSN, and when I create one, Live tells me it's invalid, or already taken. Why can't we use a Yahoo, or Gmail address? This s%t is annoying. I didn't have this much trouble with PSN. Any advice would be helpful.

I'm telling you... RROD is a plant. G4 pays the dude. Nothing too offensive, usually in the top 5 posts, seems to always be on to the point that nobody can figure out how he has time to play PS3, gets A TON of people to post after him... think about it. It's his job to do this, and a rather kick ass one I might add. None of us are that passionate about anything unless we're getting paid for it.

@blakseed, i'd help you but i simply can't remember how i created my account. from what i remember, it was pretty simple and i registered everything online on xbox.com rather than through the console. you can create a windows live id and still login w/ your preferred email address.

well RROD i was going to get a ps3 (still have a ps2 *tear*) but now I'm just going to be sick. I'm now going to get an Xbox 360 just b/c of u. Besides, this game look really good, and very interesting by the looks of the trailer, the UNSC Battle-group jumping into what appears to be the debris field of the former Tierra and the inclusion of the former arbiter looks interesting too.......

And, I bought a used copy of Gears, mint. Wouldn't read the disk at first, untill I cleaned it. Don't want to hear anyone talk trash about PS3, because I bought a USED copy of Dark Secter, in the same condition, and didn't have a Problem on Ps3. Stop lying.

I disagree, while it won't attract a crazy amount of new people, there are many Halo fans who will buy anything Halo related. I would be confident enough to say that Halo Wars will be the best selling RTS game on a Console. Until it is 1uped in the future.

As for my own opinion. It is nice to see the Halo Universe look so pretty in the cutscenes. I am an FPS and an RTS fan, so I am quite pleased right now.

Maybe it is just me, but when I read comments by people when it comes to Halo, 75 percent are negative comments, you could retort by saying that it is because Halo sucks, but if that were the case, it wouldn't be the most pre-ordered game in history, or highest grossing game in the first 7 days. So what I think, is many people who like Halo, have no reason to post about how they like it. Whereas people who don't like it, know they will get a rise out of that one guy who takes console bashing personal, lol.

Cause I like starcraft. Though this isnt as precise as a mouse/keyboard, its still an rts.

ALso cause I actually follow the Halo storyline, which is actually deep if you take the time to read the 6 or so novels.

for someone who reads all the novels and follows the story, I cant wait to see how this chapter of the Halo universe turns out.

The Pre Halo 1 novels dont mention the Human/covenant war on Harvest in too much detail.

RROD can only rely on little big planet and resistance lag of man. why not killzone 2? oh yeah cause the first one sucked so much that not even you are looking foward to playing it. gaystation sucks.

I could have gotten Halo 3 for 34 bucks, instead, I got Gears 1, in bad condition, for 34 bucks. Life is good.

RROD is tech illiterate. He doesn't understand that technology continues to progress at a rapid rate. He probably tried to keep his 486 around as long as he could. Or maybe his Comador 64.
Oh, wait, he is all of 12. He doesn't even know where or when computers come from.
He probably thinks that Sony invented computers in 1994: the same year he was born.

Ps. Playstation only exists because Nintendo needed competition down the line. Sony thought it was an opportunity. In 2008 they realize the playstation exists solely for the purpose to get PWND!!!!

My Elite just died and it hasn't even been a year since I bought it. Death to M$, I hope the credit markets go down and take your sorry ASS3S down with them. I'm off to get a PS3, at least the PS3 only has software problems. I'd rather get a flat tire than blow out my engine, maybe M$ should put this into their calculations for their next console.

Maybe the game will suck, maybe it wont. I'm not a fan of RTS's but I'm a huge Halo fan and will consider purchasing it. Maybe not right away, or new. The point is the cinematic's that have come out are really good.

Yea, I'm pretty sure that at least 3/4 of Halo owners will buy this game just because it is related to Halo. I know that I'm buying it no matter what even though I do think it looks pretty cool. But, the point is that this game will make some good money just because it has the name Halo in the title.

Wow. All of you people who are hating on Microsoft really need a life. If your XBox crashed there are 2 reasons. 1: Your dumb-ass didn't take care of it properly. 2: It was one of the ones that had problems from the outset that Microsoft will replace for free as well as give you a month of free XBox Live. The few people who bash on Sony need to get a life too. The PS3 is the most powerful gaming console out there and Sony is one of the greatest gaming companies around.

Now those of you that hate Halo. Deal with it. If you don't like the game then don't play it and don't talk about it. We don't care about your opinion. Those of you who prefer Gears over Halo, more power to you. Gears is a great game but just because you think it's better then Halo doesn't MAKE it better then Halo. Halo is one of the largest selling series of games ever and that wouldn't happen if there wasn't something appealing.
