'Gears Of War 2' Midnight Swag

In celebration of the midnight launch promotions for the highly anticipated shooter, Gears of War 2, developer Epic Games is giving away free voucher codes to unlock a special weapon and five multiplayer maps in the game for players who purchase the title during the events.

The gold-plated Hammerburst rifle (pictured above) and classic Gears of War maps--Canals, Gridlock, Mansion, Subway, and Tyro Station--will be handed out on November 6th, midnight. A gold-plated Lancer rifle is also available via the title's Limited Edition package. Both special-plated weapons do not possess any enhanced functions, other than their shiny facade.

Epic Games will also be offering the Gears of War maps as a promotion for new game purchases for "loyal fans". Gears of War 2, published by Microsoft, will be available this November 7 exclusively for the Xbox 360. (Thanks for the tip)

Wow, a fake plastic toy gun and 5 old multi-player maps. Nice job Epic. I just think that this game will be a big disappointment. It won't live up to the hype. I understand that this is the only game on the Xbox 3FixMe coming out this holiday season but come on. It's the same as the last one. I don't see any difference. Only thing that's different is the 5 on 5 instead of 4 on 4 which is still way too small. I know the Xbox 3FixMe can't handle much but come on. I think your entire line-up this year is pretty sad. Fable 2, don't make me laugh.

YEAH I love this game I'm always playing it online and will get it on nov 7th
You won't play COLE and BAIRD, because theey've been replaced by those 2 new characters who in my opinion are not a good choice the one called TAI looks so freaking lame. I think the story won't be any good just like the first gears.

Wait, just read your whole response. Sheesh man, it really speaks to the busy life you lead when out of all the fans and whatnot, a naysayer who speaks out of blind and ignorant hatred of the system he didn't get is the first one to comment on a post about this game. Pretty sad dude. Unfortunately, I don't feel that the rest of the crap you were spewing is even worth a response, much less bringing up the shoddy holiday release list that PS3 has this year, or comparing it to the 360 release list to shut you up.
Unfortunately for us all though, we both know that there isn't much that plain and clear reason can do in the way of silencing an idiot, so have fun with your delusions there buddy boy. We'll all just continue having fun with our games.
(Oh, and I own both systems, so don't pull that "console war" crap on me)

i dont think this is a toy giveway, i think its just in game, the picture just looks like a gun painted gold,

Like I said, you have nothing else to play after this game so I guess I see why you all hype it up so much knowing the us PS3 owners have plenty of games now and coming in 09 to play while you guys have nothing to play next year.

Wow this is NerdTastick. I pre-ordered my copy through yahoo just to get the Lancer! But since I did pre-order on-line I probably won't get to play until the 8th or 9th.....

guess I'll still have a chance to catch up on some movies with my psmoviesonly player until then....

And the clear winner is...! I shouldn't even have to say it... but I will. GEARS OF WAR!
I'll say again, I own both systems, played both games, and I'd have to say my opinion falls in line with the reviews. I mean, for god sake, does anyone else find it ridiculous how close you have to even shoot the baddies on Resistance? A bullet does not magically stop travelling after 80 yards. It wasn't a bad game, it just does not deserve the hype of being the self proclaimed "Halo killer" every PS3 owner thought it would be.

Waitaminute. Did you seriously just point out the one single overhyped game from 360 to make your point? Good god dude, you're comparing two completely different types here. GoW 2 already has a VERY successful established base from GoW 1 and a clear formula for gameplay that people absolutely love, whereas Too Human (which it still baffles me why you brought it up, unless the part of your brain that makes logic is broke or something) was completely uncharted territory, and took alot of guts just to put it out there. Can't really say that for any of PS3's games that have likewise flopped, now can you? Haze? Overhyped, yet completely stereotypical shooter. Resistance? Decent, but nowhere near the level of hype it was getting (still beaten by Halo 3 and GoW in all reviews mind you).

I won't get involved, but I commend RedRingOfDeath becuase apparently he gets underneath of people skin and it works! I read these threads every single day and, He's always burying the Xbox 360. I think it's very funny how this offends Xbox360 users. I mean when there is a xbox360 article and redringofdeath doesn't comment on it right away a xbox360 fanboy asked where is he? Too Human didn't do as well because they were doing something completely new, which took guts.
What PS3 games have even ventured out that far? Seriously? Haze? Oh, lets add drugs into our FPS. That's completely experimental and fresh, right? No? How about if we add a Korn song in there as the theme? Still flopped.
Lair? Ok, that was about as close as PS3 came to being experimental, though all they really had going for it was a pretty coat of paint. And it still did worse than Too Human!
Resistance? Barely average shooter (see comments on bullet distance) with all the average shooting mechanics and controls, but a decent concept and story. That, in my opinion, is all that saved that game from so-so reviews, was the story and concept. Aside from that, like so many shooters I've played before, but not quite as good.

Resistance 2 will destory this game! Resistance 2 has substance Gears doesn't! I will be purchaseing both games eventually. I also know that Halo came out in 2001, halo 2 in 2004 and halo 3 2007. Their was a 3 year window between each release. Gears of war came out in 2006 and now the next one is being release in 2008. their is only a 2 year window difference! I don't know if this means anything or not! I just hope Gears 2 isn't being rushed because Microsoft knows it hasn't nothing else to offer as far a shooter goes!

Well, The thing about is I never commented a SINGLE TIME to an EA MADDEN 06 Comment. I will give all xbox 360 users the same advice. But, I don't think that is going to happen! Because the xbox 360 has lost its STEAM and is on its way out the Door period! Whether people like it or not! The more this is going to be evedient the xbox 360 fanboys are going to be PISSED OFF! How is someone giving RROD the idea that he is burying anything but his head in the sand?
For me, owner of both systems (Wii got jacked), it isn't his bashing of the 360 that bothers me. I couldn't give two craps about what system he bashes. I'm not in high school and don't feel the need to pick sides. This isn't a gang, though I wouldn't be suprised to see RROD clad in blue and black, tagging his name on the brick walls of his whitewashed suburban neighborhood.
What bothers me, before you start patting yourself on the back for getting under the skin of "360 fanboys", is the level of blind bias and ignorance you show. You support all of your arguments with hearsay, gibberish, and slanted opinions. I have yet to see any logic in these posts of yours, and it bothers me to hear the ravings of a Nazi.

Ok, to the PS3 exlusives mentioned:
Motorstorm, decent, but already replaced by Pure before it even came out.
Socom, yet another just decent shooter. Good on single player, but nothing compared to what's already out there with multiplayer. Keep looking, because you know PS anything has never been known for it's shooters, and never will so long as 360 keeps pumping their quality stuff out.
LBP does interest me, and I'll probably get it. However, I'm sure my 5 year old neice will appreciate it more than I will.
And Resistance 2? For God sake, just read my previous comments on Resistance 1. Unless they made some heavy improvements on the first one, the second one will likely be eaten up by GoW 2 in no time.
Oh, and I agree with BONERJAM. RROD? Your RRS mask is slipping.

I pre-ordered Gears 2 this week, and I never pre-order games. I looking forward to this game so much. I can't wait to bust up some puny humans as Skorge. I'll be at the midnight release. I want those maps. Subway is my favorite map so no way I am gonna miss out on that.

...noting to the "great and powerful OZ", that while he is checking out all his Wiki info to add credence to the RRS character, he should also use a spell check. You really think we'd believe you could be working in any office type job and have that bad of grammar? Fact is (and you wouldn't get this watching Office Space) that you're probably going to be getting paid better at an office job than you will working for the post office. Majority of office jobs require that you have a degree, while post office doesn't. Might want to look a little closer at that Wiki info before you post, champ...

I think it will be very interesting after both resistance and gears comes out to see what the post say "Gears Dominates" of "Resistance Reigns Supreme". So the "great and powerful OZ" wants us to believe that his RRS persona, a 37 year old office worker with a degree of some sort (as that's commonly a prerequisite of working in an office), has all day to sit there, not minding his work, and risking his job by posting countless remarks on a gaming website on a more than likely monitered company system, and all the while using the crappiest logic and grammar I have ever seen in a college graduate, and having a biased passion for gaming no one above High School age should have. That about right there "OZ"? What do you think everyone?

I have been coming here now for 3-4 months now flaming and I have to say that I'm growing very tired of it!! I mean I never have any intelligent thing to say just the same rehashed argument. You don't know how hard it is to go to bed every night tossing and turning on just how bad I get owned every day!! It's hard enough not having a girlfriend, living in my grandma's basement on an old peed on mattress with no friends. I have to take out my failure on all of you(sobbing). I know Resistance came out November 17th 2006 along with the Playstation 3. I know it will be much better than Gears becuase of the 60 player LAG FREE online play. I'm not saying Gears will suck. And the 360 has Fable 2, Banjo Kazooie 3, Gears of War 2, Halo Wars, Left for Dead, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction, and plenty more. Not to mention DLC for every game as well as arecade games new and old.

Soon, I will have a 360, but there's no way in hell i'll end up like you fanboys. Gears1, Gears 2, Mass Effect, and Left 4 Dead. That's the only games you have I give 2 f%ks about. Every game that the 360 has that comes out on PS3 also, I'll get for the PS3. Fable2, no thank you. I'll get a gold subcription so that I can own Staychisel. Should be fun.

title, meaning it came out WITH the ps3. How are you gonna compare your best game with a launch title? This game and resistance 2 are gonna be the 2 that you should compare. And none of your little 14 year old opinions mean anything until both games are released, so just stfu and wait and well see. I already know that r2 is at least trying to give us something new with the co op and multiplayer, what new features is geow2 bringing? 5vs5 instead of 4vs4? thats not innovation. Please calling it a Gaystation. it does what it was designed to do very well, play blu rays and MGS4 . i loved GoW and will be in line for GoW2 Because it is the same game, i still play the first one. Every thing was cool so i will play GoW3 and GoW4 And GoW5 . so will many many others

First of all the gun isnt plastic its in game and at least epic knows to limit the player amount. Killzone 2 with its 32 players my god welcome to spawn kill heaven.
