When Square's Final Fantasy 11 came out for the PS2 in 2004, players were able to take on the world of Vana'Diel together with PC adventurers. But Sony's DC Universe Online might not have that feature. Patch updates may hinder the cross-compatibily play between consoles.
In an interview with MTV, creative director Chris Cao explains what may prevent PS3 players from taking on the universe of DC with PC heroes/villains."When we add stuff to the PC side it’s a different route; going through the PlayStation Network and getting it to our console person is a lot different than getting it to our PC person," said Cao. He also mentions that MMO vets should be familiar to the notion that new title launches would always be updated via a patch--almost immediately after its first day of release.
But rest assured folks, Cao and team are doing all they can to bring us the ultimate DC Universe Online experience. “We want you to play with your friends, so everything that we do tries to get people to play together," Cao said. DC Universe Online is schedule to be released sometime in 2009.
