According to a Japanese financial site Nikkei Net, a new Nintendo DS is coming this year, at least in Japan.
Planned features for the yet-unnamed DS Lite Mach 2 include a camera function, music playback, and improved wireless capabilities. We hear nothing about the larger screens, enhanced memory, or a smaller size that have been rumored previously, although if this is a full-on revamp of the console, it could happen.
Nikkei Net reports that the thing will cost ¥20,000 ($188), a bit more expensive than the $158 the DS Lite costs now.
Nintendo hasn't said anything about the report, but there is a Nintendo press conference later this week--could they be dropping the new DS bombshell there? Stay tuned to G4, and this website for up-to-the-minute coverage of Nintendo's press event on Thursday.
UPDATE: Sources are reporting that Nikkei based their report on speculation as opposed to having spoken to Nintendo.
