You had to have seen this coming: The backlash has begun over the content in upcoming Nintendo DS title Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
Just a day after the game's drug-dealing mini-game was revealed, Darren Gold of charity Drugsline told England's The Sun tabloid: “Anything using drug-dealing as entertainment is sending out the wrong message...Glamorisation doesn’t help our work trying to educate kids of the dangers of substance misuse.”
We have a feeling this is only the tip of a very large iceberg of complaint against the title, so in the interest of heading off some of the criticism of this game before it starts, we'd like to remind the world that things that happen in video games are pretend; things that happen in your life are real. Thanks for your time.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars., to be rated "mature," should come out some time in 2009.
