First Mobile Phone With Keyless Car Entry

Posted September 24, 2008 - By jmanalang

At last! Today, Nissan Motors and Sharp Corporation announced the world's first mobile phone integrated with a keyless car entry feature. Nissan's Intelligent Key System, currently installed in over 950,000 Nissan manufactured vehicles, supports a two-way wireless technology that allows drivers to unlock/lock their car doors and even start/stop their engines without inserting a key.

The mobile phone will be demonstrated first this September 30 in Japan. No official word yet if this new gizmo will make its way to North American and European shores.

No longer will we be in a situation where we speak to our friends with our mobile phones asking, "Where the hell did I put my keys?", then they answer, "Um, dude....I'm not there". But just make sure you don't misplace your phones either. Also, you can avoid both drunk driving and drunk dialing at the same time! Huzzah!
