Diablo III Lead Designer Jay Wilson believes that players will "hate" the next revealed character class at first acknowledging that they cannot "make everyone happy."
The only two classes that have been revealed for Blizzard's upcoming RPG sequel are the Barbarian, the only returning class, and the Witch Doctor, which is similar to Diablo II's Necromancer.
Wilson, in an interview with VideoGamer.com, said, "All the barbarian players are delighted and all the necromancers hate us. I understand, I don't begrudge them that. I would hate me too! But what I would say is that when we announce the next class, which is quite similar to a previous class, then all those players will hate us too."
So what will it be?
The remaining classes it could be based on are the Amazon, Sorceress, Paladin, Assassin, and Druid. Our money is on the Sorceress as a mage-type nuking class is a staple to any RPG. What do you think it will be?
"You can't make everybody happy, but I think when the game finally come out players will find there's a good class for them, one they will love as much as the ones that came before. And if they don't, I absolutely promise that in the expansions we'll consider bringing back old classes. We just don't want to do it with the first release. We want to establish our identity."
So if you absolutely hate the classes in Diablo III, just whine and start internet petitions and they'll be more than happy to include them in the expansions, apparently. Is this a confirmation of at least one expansion pack?
