Hippie, rejoice! That slightly dowdy looking car above may be the future of green driving: It's the Chevy Volt, Chevrolet's entry into the hybrid car market, and it will be available for sale in 2010.
According to the company, the just-unveiled auto has a huge battery running the length of the car and is charged with a regular home outlet. It will go 40 miles without using any gasoline at all, and when the battery charge runs out, the petrol engine kicks in and give you another 300 miles.
It goes 0-60 in under 9 seconds, and it will cost about two cents a mile to drive as opposed to 12 cents for an average, old-fashioned car. No word on the sticker price quite yet.
