Halo Gear? Solid Chief?
In what appears to be the most bizarre yet fracken-awesome rumor yet, former Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots producer Ryan Payton has been hired by Microsoft to be the helm of a new Halo video game project, according to Kotaku's "very reliably source".
Payton was a key element in bringing the brand new control scheme in Guns of the Patriots, that has given the Metal Gear franchise a new direction. The former Kojima Productions employee also brought in word that Old Snake's mission in part four won't be his last. Microsoft's new Halo project is still heavily under wraps, although their recent job posting suggested that it would be for their next-gen console.
If Payton is indeed involved with one of the Chief's latest project, don't expect it to be a cinematic driven experience like in the Metal Gear Solid game series. Kojima is still the mastermind behind the Metal Gear experience, while Payton mainly focused on bringing a fresh gameplay experience in Guns of the Patriots. But we do expect one thing should this rumor come to reality--the new Halo experience will be done in a third-person perspective.
