Google Making Video games?

Posted September 10, 2008 - By Stephen Johnson

According to Forbes, ubiquitous, octopus-like search engine company Google may be moving into making videogames. There hasn't been an announcement and the evidence is circumstantial, but here's where the speculation comes from:

  1. Google owns "Google Lively," an avatar-based social interaction site.
  2. In March 2007, google bought in-game advertising firm Adscape for $23 million.
  3. Google does everything, whether it's mail, satellite maps or taking pictures of my house.

Here's what industry analyst Colin Sebastian Lazard Capital Markets says:  "The way Google works is they try a lot of different things, and they're OK with putting out sub-par products initially to get things moving...  People are pretty forgiving of that ... since they're good at upgrading their products."

Sounds pretty accurate to us. What kind of games do you think google would make?
