Not only did EA's delay of the video game release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince caused a lot of dismay among Potter fans, but millions of dollars in profits went down the well too.
Variety reports that in EA's SEC filing of expected revenue and profits from the video game, the company would've made $120 million in revenue, generating about $41 million in profits, if they stuck with the Fall 2008 release. Harry Potter would've Hogwarts'd 2.5 percent of EA's expected revenue this fiscal year, thanks to the rabid shopping season coming up.
The mega publisher expects to earn the same profit and revenue next fiscal year when the title is released sometime on July 2009.
